Guide for Dog Owners

This guide is for you if a trainer or behavior professional asked you to use BModBridge. You do not need to be good with computers. Every step is spelled out.

Meet Maya. Maya has a dog named Biscuit. Biscuit barks and pulls when he sees other dogs on walks. Maya's trainer, Rosa, asked her to use BModBridge. We will follow Maya as she gets started.

Start here: your first day

Step 1. Find your invitation email

You can't sign up by yourself. Your trainer (or someone in your home) sends you an invitation by email.

  1. Open your email.
  2. Look for a message from BModBridge.
  3. Can't find it? Check your spam or promotions folder.
  4. Tap the link in the email.

If the link is too old, ask your trainer to send a new one. They have a button for that.

Step 2. Sign in for the first time

  1. Go to app.bmodbridge.com on your phone or computer.
  2. Tap Continue with Google if you use Gmail. Tap Continue with Apple if you use an Apple ID. Use the same email your invitation went to.
  3. Neither one? Tap Email me a sign-in link instead. Type your email. Then open the email we send you and tap the link. Do this on the same phone or computer.

There is no password to remember.

Tip: If Google sign-in keeps spinning, open app.bmodbridge.com in Safari or Chrome and try again. Or use the email link.

Step 3. Say yes to the rules

The first time you sign in, you will see a box with our Terms and Privacy Policy. Check the box to agree, then continue. You need to agree before you can use the app. You can say yes or no to marketing emails. Saying no is fine. You can change your mind later in your Profile.

Step 4. Pick a short or long questionnaire

When you open your dog's Intake for the first time, BModBridge asks which version you want:

  • Basic intake is shorter. It covers the most important things.
  • Full intake asks more questions. It gives your trainer the whole picture.

Not sure? Ask your trainer which one they want. You can switch later, and you will not lose your answers.

Step 5. Put BModBridge on your home screen

This makes it feel like a real app.

  • iPhone: Open the site in Safari. Tap the Share button. Then tap Add to Home Screen.
  • Android: Open the site in Chrome. Tap the menu (three dots). Then tap Install app or Add to Home screen.

Maya did this on day one. Now she can log a walk with one thumb while holding the leash.

Getting around

Your home screen

After you sign in, you see your dogs. Tap a dog to open everything about them. If you have more than one dog, you can switch dogs at the top of the screen.

The sections

Inside a dog, a row of sections runs across the top. On a phone, swipe it left and right.

Section What it's for
Dashboard A quick look at how things are going
Profile Your dog's name, photo, age, and basic facts
Intake The questionnaire about your dog's life and health
BMod Plan Your trainer's plan (you can read it, not change it)
Homework What your trainer wants you to practice
Behavior log Where you write down each time your dog reacts
Day journal One short note about each day
Insights Charts that show if things are getting better
Photos & videos Photos and videos from your Behavior log events
Resources Things to read and watch from your trainer

The bottom bar and the + button

On a phone, a bar sits at the bottom of the screen. The round + button in the middle is the most useful button in the app. It lets you log something fast.

Each section, one at a time

Dashboard

This is the "how are we doing?" page. It shows how many times your dog reacted lately, how big the reactions were, a peek at the plan, and your homework. Look at it before you meet with your trainer.

Profile

This is the short version of your dog: name, breed, date of birth, and vet. Tap the photo to add a picture of your dog. Photos from any phone work fine.

For the date of birth, pick the date. If you don't know it, check I don't know the exact date of birth and guess the age instead.

Intake

This is the long questionnaire. It is the most helpful thing you can do in your first week.

  • You don't have to finish it all at once. Tap Save at the end of each part. Come back any time.
  • Some questions only show up if they apply. If you answer "No," the extra questions stay hidden.
  • If you don't know an answer, choose I'm not sure.
  • Be honest, especially about bites. Nobody is judging you. Your trainer needs the real story to keep everyone safe.

When you finish, tap the button to send it. Your trainer gets a message.

BMod Plan

"BMod" is short for behavior change. This is your trainer's written plan for your dog. You can read it, but only your trainer can change it.

The plan explains what sets your dog off, what your dog does, what you usually do, and what happens next. Then it shows what you are working toward. Read it once slowly. It shows where you can step in and help.

Homework

This is your practice list. Each item says what to do and when. Some items say Anytime.

Think of it like piano practice. A little bit most days helps more than a lot once a week.

Behavior log

Each time your dog reacts to something, write it down here.

The fast way: Tap the round + button. Pick what set your dog off, like Person, Doorbell, or Squirrel / cat. That's it. It takes about ten seconds.

The full way: Tap New Event to add more:

  • What set your dog off? For example, a dog across the street.
  • How did the dog react? For example, barked and pulled.
  • How intense was the reaction? Pick 1 (mild) to 5 (very intense).
  • How much did the behavior repeat during this encounter? Pick 1 to 5.
  • How quickly did the dog settle down? 1 means right away. 5 means your dog stayed upset for a long time. Lower is better.
  • How far away was the trigger? Guess the distance in feet.
  • Who was handling the dog?, what you tried, and any other notes.

Your trainer can reply to any entry. You will get a notice when they do.

Maya's story: Last Tuesday, Biscuit saw a big dog and lunged. Maya felt embarrassed and wanted to forget it. She logged it anyway: a 4 for size, and he calmed down in about a minute. Three weeks later, the same kind of dog made Biscuit bark once, and he calmed down in seconds. Maya only knew that was progress because she wrote it down.

Tip: Log it right away, while you remember. A quick log is much better than no log.

Day journal

Write one short note for the whole day. It takes about two minutes.

  • Overall day rating: 1 means a great day. 5 means a rough day. Lower is better.
  • How you are feeling, how much exercise and play your dog got, eating and drinking, and any changes in food or medicine.
  • Loud noises like storms or fireworks, and who else took care of your dog.
  • Notes and questions. If you write something here, your trainer gets an alert.

Why bother? If Biscuit has a bad Friday, the journal might show there were fireworks and he missed his walk. Then it makes sense. It is not a step backward.

Insights

Insights turns your notes into charts. Pick a time range like Past 30 days.

How to read them:

  • Look at the direction over weeks, not one single day.
  • Use the Reactions filter to look at one kind of reaction at a time.
  • For almost every chart, going down is good. Fewer reactions, smaller reactions, calming down faster, and better days all make the line go down.
  • For distance, going down is also good. It means your dog can stay calm when things are closer.

One bad day is normal. Check the journal for that day before you worry.

Photos & videos

Share videos so your trainer can see what really happens. This section lists the photos and videos you added to your Behavior log events. You add them from the Behavior log, not here.

  1. Open an event in the Behavior log, or log a new one and save it.
  2. Tap Upload picture or Upload video and pick a file.
  3. Come back to Photos & videos to add a note. Say what was going on just before.
  4. Your trainer may write back, or even record their voice over your video to explain what they see.

Good videos:

  • Show the lead-up, not only the big moment.
  • Keep your dog and the trigger both in the picture.
  • Are short, about 20 to 60 seconds.
  • Never set up a scary moment just to film it.

Resources

Articles and videos your trainer picked for you. Use the search box to find one again. For a PDF or a picture, tap View to open it, or tap the small arrow beside it to save a copy.

Your account

Tap your name in the top corner to open the menu.

  • Profile: change your name and photo, and turn notices on or off.
  • Email preferences: use the Product news and offers switch to stop or start marketing emails. Emails you need, like sign-in links and invitations, always come.
  • Privacy: turn the analytics switch off if you don't want BModBridge to study how you use the app. You can change this any time. If your device already sends a "do not track" signal, analytics stay off.
  • Invite a co-owner: give a partner or family member their own sign-in. They will see the same dog. Please don't share one login.
  • Intake: shows in this menu until your dog's intake is finished. You can always open it from your dog's page.
  • Leave household: open Profile to leave a home you share with someone. You lose access to its dogs, and someone has to invite you back.
  • Sign out: open Profile and tap Sign out in the Account section.

A simple routine

  • Every day (2 minutes): Log reactions when they happen. Write your journal at night.
  • Every week (10 minutes): Look at Insights for the past 30 days. Share one short video.
  • Before a session: Look at the Dashboard. Write down one question.
  • After a session: Read your Homework again. Check if the plan changed.

Questions and answers

I never got my invitation. Check spam. Make sure your trainer has the right email. Ask them to send it again.

It says I was already invited. That's okay. If it says "pending" or "expired," ask for a new one. If it says "accepted," you already have an account. Just sign in.

I don't want marketing emails. Open Profile, then Email preferences, and turn off Product news and offers. Each marketing email also has an unsubscribe link.

My sign-in link didn't come. Wait a minute and check spam. Each link only works once, so ask for a new one.

My video won't upload. Big videos take a while. Stay on the page and try Wi-Fi.

Who can see my notes? People in your household and your trainer. If your trainer shares your dog with a vet, the vet can read them for a short time. Other clients can't see anything of yours.

How do I change my dog's name? Open your dog and tap Rename next to the name. Type the new name and tap Save. Two dogs in one home can't have the same name. Your trainer can rename your dog too, for example to fix a typo.

I logged something wrong. Open it and tap Edit or Delete.

Do I have to answer every question? No. Answer what you know. Health, medicine, and bite history matter most.

How do I delete my account or my dog? Go to Profile and tap Request account deletion. Your trainers and their company are notified, and their Business Manager removes your account and dogs.

How do I ask my trainer something? Add a note on the entry or video you're asking about. For anything urgent, call or text them.

Emergency? BModBridge is not for emergencies. If your dog is hurt, sick, or has bitten someone, call your vet or an emergency vet first.
